Tim Krul: “John Hughes, the Falkirk manager, was very good for me.
“He sat me down, explained that I was bound to make mistakes, which I did, but he would stick with me.
“It was just after I spent six months out after my two knee operations.
"Lee Clark, who was looking after the reserves, pulled me to one side to say Falkirk had been on the phone.
“I went up on the Thursday, trained on the Friday, and played on the Saturday.
“Falkirk were in the Scottish Premier League and, after my debut against Gretna, I played against Celtic and Rangers in my next two games.
"That was some jump for a kid. I went on to play 26 matches during my time at Falkirk.”
"I later went out to Carlisle in League One.
“There were some big clubs around – I remember playing at Millwall and at Leeds United which was quite something.”
