Newcastle United teenage goalkeeper Freddy Woodman helped make English football history last night by starring in a rare penalty shoot-out success.
The Three Lions beat Holland in the European Championship Under-17 final in Malta doing what the senior players have failed to do so often, beating a team on penalties.
After a hard-fought 1-1 draw over 90 minutes, which saw Woodman make several good saves, England won 4-1 on pens, with the young United stopper saving the first.
Adam Armstrong, who had picked up an ankle injury, was on the bench to watch his club team-mate emerge as man of the match.
