... Newcastle defender Remie Streete before tomorrow's loan deadline.
Championship sides Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday have both been linked with a move for Streete before the deadline at 5pm tomorrow.
Port Vale had extended the 20-year-old central defender’s loan into a second month but he was recalled to St James' Park two weeks ago because of injuries in their squad.
But will Alan Pardew hang onto the kid, who was an unused substitute at the weekend as Newcastle beat QPR 1-0.
Steven Taylor could be fit in time to face West Ham this weekend, but I think we all know the player has only once in his entire Newcastle career completed a campaign playing more games than he missed.
Pardew also knows he cannot put any faith in the injury-prone Greenwich-born defender because it takes very little to put him back on the treatment table.
Port Vale manager Rob Page was remaining open minded about any deal to take the defender back to Burslem, knowing there are bigger fish out there trying to tempt him.
Rob Page (talking to the Stoke Sentinel): “I am not sure what the situation is with them and their injuries so I am not sure if he will be needed again for the Saturday game.
“So, we will have to wait and see. We have until Thursday to have a look at that.
“As I have always said, if we can improve the squad in any way and bring good players in, then we will keep our minds open to it.”
Lee Clark's need is probably more than Port Vale's, and if Streete was allowed to choose (which I'm sure he is) it will be interesting to see who he goes for.
Blackpool are a Championship club, but does it help a player to play in a team that rarely wins?
