Mackems v Mags - "Bring It On!"
Oh boy are we sick of reading how the 45-year-old Uruguayan repeatedly thwarted the Magpies' ambitions during his playing days with Chelsea.
He scored both goals in that 2-1 FA Cup semi final defeat for Newcastle at Wembley in April 2000.
Then there was Brighton's two FA Cup wins over Newcastle in the last couple of years where Poyet was manager.
On Sunday, he will face the Sunderland fans at the Stadium of Shite for the very first time ... and THIS is the moment for Newcastle to return the misery.
Asked about his record against Newcastle, Poyet said: "Yes, but I'm not playing.
"My whole career in England has been always linked to Newcastle somehow for the good and the bad. I just hope the good ones continue and we can win the game.
"But I don't think it's going to be a game that's going to be won by me or by Alan Pardew.
"This game will be won on the pitch. We will try to help them, of course, because we need to make good decisions.
"I would take that result (3-0 at St James' Park) now, yes. Sometimes there are coincidences in football, but until it happens, it's difficult to analyse.
"But it is true that we need to win and this is a perfect game for us.
"It's the typical game that the fans would like you to win.
"From what I have seen in town, the only thing they ask is to win this game. Apparently there is nothing after, there are no more games, it is only this one.
"Maybe we should take it like that. This is a game we need to win."
Victory over Newcastle is something the Black Cats have achieved only once on Wearside since April 1980, and this season a return of one point from their first eight games has left them anchored to the foot of the table.
Poyet, whose first game in charge ended in a sobering 4-0 defeat at Swansea, admitted a repeat on home soil would be perfect.

MAGPIES IN EUROPE -
HARVEY TO PARDEW
The new version of "Magpies In Europe" will be launched next week.
The official new title is "Magpies In Europe - Harvey To Pardew" and is an up-dated version of "From Antwerp To Zurich" - which includes the 14 Europa League fixtures we played last season.
The 280-page book features match reports from the 134 European matches Newcastle United have played, starting with the memorable 4-0 win over Feyenoord in 1968 on our European debut.
Included are stats and the figures you would expect, but also each away fixture has the remarkable experiences of individuals who travelled to watch the matches.
It is a fascinating history that every Newcastle United fan will enjoy.
And with a limited print-run, make sure you order a copy.
