The accountants say that the fortunes of Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough made up 8% of the total revenue of £2.5bn generated by the 92 professional clubs in England.
Newcastle was seventh overall in the top 10 clubs by money made in 2008/09.
Sunderland generated the next highest North East revenue with £64.6m, and Middlesbrough’s relegation season still saw them hit revenue of £58m.
