Rodolphe Douala has rejected the chance to join Middlesbrough.
The Cameroon winger's FIFA-registered agent, Jorge Gama, insists Douala has no intention of leaving Sporting Lisbon to go to the Riverside.
Toon Set To Move On Douala
Douala is cup-tied in Europe after playing in Sporting's Champions League qualifier against Udinese last week, but that didn't stop Boro trying to sign the 27-year-old.
"I can assure you that the player is NOT interested in moving to Boro," Gama said. "It's got nothing to do with Middlesbrough as a club - it's a good club with good players and a respected manager."
Sporting would love to see the return of Hugo Viana to Lisbon, who they had on loan last season, and Freddy Shepherd could be on his travels once again as Souness insists he wants a left winger before the transfer deadline.
