Rangers manager Walter Smith revealed he was "delighted" by Alan Hutton's decision to turn down a move to Tottenham.
Defender Hutton was the subject of a bid of around £8million from the Premier League club, which Rangers accepted.
Smith confirmed Rangers had "reluctantly" agreed to let Hutton leave, given the size of Tottenham's offer.
But the manager was relieved when the 23-year-old decided to reject the move last night.
Smith: "We received a bid from Tottenham which was reluctantly accepted, but the player himself wants to remain at Rangers.
"From a footballing perspective that is good news.
"He has been doing so well for us that we didn't want to lose him."
