There has been talk of a game against AC Milan in the United States, which Newcastle are trying ti tie up.
Alan Pardew has seen the cancellation of the Vodacom Challenge Tournament in South Africa, and that has left the Magpies with a big hole in their summer schedule.
The tournament has been pulled after the clubs failed to sign a contract to compete.
Newcastle have only three fixtures confirmed at the moment – against Olympiakos on July 27 and Porto on July 28 in the Algarve, Portugal, before a clash against Cardiff City on August 11.
Pardew: “I think the start is a lot tougher than last year, and the end looks tough as well, so we will be hoping to get everything we want done as soon as possible, and hopefully before we get into that opening period.”
