Idrissa Sylla has previously been subject to interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sunderland, but Newcastle could plot a swoop for the 25-year-old instead.
After starting his career at Le Mans, Sylla moved to Belgium with Zulte Waregem in 2013 for a cut-price fee. After impressing for Zulte, he moved to Belgian giants Anderlecht last year.
Newcastle fans will be excited to hear that he has earned the nickname “Waddle” after demonstrating a similar style of play to the former Newcastle star Chris Waddle. The Guinea international has 2 goals in 14 appearances for his country.
Newcastle have already signed Dwight Gayle this summer to add to Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ayoze Perez, Adam Armstrong and Emmanuel Riviere in their striker ranks but they could look to Sylla – who offers a different dimension.
The 6’2” front man presents a target up front and is a threat from set pieces.
