Chris Hughton: “It’s slow at the moment and that is to be expected.
“There isn’t going to be the same amount of money knocking around and I think everyone is trying to be that little bit wiser at the moment, because the market has changed.
“We don’t want to leave things until the last minute, and I don’t think that will happen, but we are also mindful of the fact everybody is waiting at the moment and assessing what they need.
"I don’t expect anything to happen in the next couple of weeks.
“The fact this is a World Cup year has not helped things move quickly because everybody is waiting to see what happens there as well. The situation is constantly changing though. It’s slow, but things are moving the whole time.
“There are players out there who are available who we never expected to be available, so that changes your thinking as well.
“We do need to strengthen and I’m confident the players we need to bring in will come in. But what I’ve always said is that we do not want to disrupt what we had last season too much.
“The nucleus of the squad is going to be the same next season, but I also know that we need to strengthen and we need to improve in certain areas, and that is what I’m working towards."
