Troisi has priced himself out of a move to Roda JC, and it is thought he wants to prove his worth to Kevin Keegan before calling time on his Tyneside career.
Troisi is off contract in June and had trials at Roda in January.
The Dutch club are keen to sign him, but according to reports in Holland, his personal demands are far too high.
