Newcastle are reported to be keen on signing Icelandic international Solvi Ottesen.
Reports emanating from Denmark claim Newcastle are targeting a move for the Sonderjyske defender as a replacement for Sebastien Bassong.
Ottesen has been linked with a move to the UK in the past with Celtic and Birmingham both credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.
The player's agent Gudlaugur Tommasson has confirmed there is a growing interest in Ottesen, but no offer on the table for the Icelander.
"There is no concrete offer for Ottesen, but there is an interest," Tommasson told Danish daily Berlingske Tidene.
"At this time of the season, this interest might turn out to be something, or just nothing."
