The former England captain hopes to be given a one-year contract when his current deal expires at the end of next season, giving him further chances to add to what is a disappointing career medal haul for a player of his ability.
"I have a year left on my contract and I hope to do another year after that - and then I don't know what will happen," Shearer told the club’s official review of the season video & DVD.
"We have a great team spirit here with a tremendous manager and we are working hard to get over the final hurdle.
"I dream about winning something with this club every night, every week. I pray it comes in my time as a player.
"I want to see those supporters' faces when we win a trophy.
"They're great when we haven't won something - imagine what it would be like if we did."
