Burnley striker Andre Gray and Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Pires have been identified as a summer transfer targets by Newcastle United.
The Magpies under Rafael Benitez are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of Premier League return next season.
Pires, a former Juventus youth player, is someone the club are looking at as Benitez’s request, according to the Daily Mirror.
Currently playing for La Liga outfit Leganes the 23-year-old has a £6m release clause in his contract.
But the newly promoted side have competition on their hands for his signature with West Ham and Everton both showing heavy interest.
Ever-present this season, Pires has played in all but three of Leganes’ opening 38 matches, scoring five goals and creating a further two.
As for improving his attacking options Benitez, in the same report, is looking at Gray who has netted 10 goals across all competitions this season.
The 25-year-old’s current deal at Turf Moor expires in June 2018 and there are no signs of a contract renewal which has piqued the interest of Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur.
Gray has featured in 31 league matches this season managing nine goals and two assists for Sean Dyche’s men.
