Vogts said: "I saw him at the gathering in Stirling (a behind closed doors friendly with Dundee United) and he did very well. In the last four games for Newcastle he played three. He did well then, especially in the cup.
"I have been talking with Newcastle and they are very happy with him. Now I am looking for another defender and it is a good chance for him.
"Also, he will be playing with me in the "future team" in December against Germany."
Caldwell will miss Saturday’s clash with Manchester United through suspension.
