Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann confirms interest in Steve Cotterill and Steve McClaren, according to Scunthorpe Telegraph.
The club are looking for a replacement for Graham Alexander who was sacked on Saturday night, after the Iron’s 1-1 draw with Rochdale.
Swann has said there is interest in both Steve Cotterill and former England and Newcastle United manager McClaren.
Cotterill has been installed as one of the names that the club might turn to. The 53-year-old won seven of 27 matches in charge of Birmingham City after replacing Harry Redknapp as manager last October, but was sacked at the beginning of this month after a run of six straight defeats – a run that left Blues in the relegation zone.
The former England manager Steve McClaren has told Sky Sports News he is keen to return to management following five months working as a consultant in Israel.
The 56-year-old has been linked with the vacancy at Championship club Sheffield Wednesday, whose most recent manager Carlos Carvalhal took over at Swansea City a few days after Christmas.
McClaren has been helping Jordi Cruyff at Maccabi Tel Aviv, whose chief executive Ben Mansford revealed recently that the ex-England manager left the Israeli club in order to pursue other opportunities.
