According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez will not allow Isaac Hayden to leave St. James’ Park until Ki Sung-Yeung returns from the Asian Cup.
Hayden came out last week and stated that he wanted a move away from St. James’ Park.
Benitez will reportedly grant the combative midfielder his wish, but it could be weeks yet, before Hayden is given permission to leave Tyneside.
Ki is currently representing South Korea at the Asian Cup, and he won’t return until February, if his country makes the final.
Benitez is concerned that the sale of Hayden would simply leave him too short of options in midfield.
Hayden started in Newcastle’s match against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup at the weekend, and seems to have an important role to play at the moment.
And it appears that Hayden could have to stay at Newcastle for another few weeks yet, even though he is eager to move on.
