The former Newcastle United defender has just finished a stint in the Indian Premier League with Kerala Blasters FC.
The 32-year old has had stints with Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Barnsley throughout his career and Mowbray is looking forward to casting an eye over him.
Mowbray said: "Peter Ramage is currently in the building and he trained yesterday, and we'll look at him again today.
"Whilst he isn't the most physical of defenders, he is vastly experienced in top flight football with some big clubs and has a very good pedrigree.
"He seems to be a bit of an organiser, someone who will lead at the back and we'll be looking at him over the coming week or so to see how he does."
