Ameobi came off the bench in the club’s 4-3 Boxing Day defeat to Manchester United.
The England Under-21 international struck the post with the score level at 3-3, and he and his team-mates left Old Trafford bitterly disappointed at Javier Hernandez’s 90th-minute winner.
Sammy Ameobi: “In the past month we’ve definitely improved from where we were at.
“What we need now is results to add on to that, and we’re working on that.
“We were unfortunate not to get a good result (at Old Trafford, but we have to take the positives. We didn’t get the three points, but we played well.
“We’ll take that into the Arsenal game, and hopefully we’ll get something from that.
“We’re halfway through the season, and there are still many more points to pick up. Hopefully, we can do that – starting at Arsenal.
“Hopefully, we can go as far as possible in the cups, and continue in the league.”
