What Now For Owen - Contract Talks Have Ended!

With the club facing renewed uncertainty after the decision of Mike Ashley to sell, talks with their captain have been put on hold while a new buyer is found.

Owen's deal expires at the end of this season, so he is entitled to begin talks with interested parties on January 1.

While the offer of an extension is, allegedly, still on the table, there have been no more developments.

Although, I must admit, I find it hard to believe Ashley would sit at the table and talk a deal when we all know he is waiting for the first opportunity to jump ship.

Owen, I'm sure, is waiting with interest for new owners to emerge.

The danger is that once Ashley and his hierarchy have been replaced, there will be little time to secure Owen's position before he is free to move on.

IF he wants to move on, of course, and I'm sure that all depends who is brought in as manager.
