Jonjo Shelvey's discipline (or lack of it) once again reared it's head on Wednesday.
It is now three red cards in less than 13 months for Shelvey - and, though one of those was rescinded, Shelvey will have missed 10 games due to suspension during that time given his two retrospective bans as well.
True, Wednesday’s red card was for two bookings and was in nowhere comparable to any of his previous indiscretions, but for the Magpies to lose one of their most-creative players for two games over the hectic festive schedule is far from ideal.
So has Benitez spoken to the midfielder about his discipline? And is the United manager concerned by it?
Perhaps Rafa will answer those questions today.
We all want to see Newcastle players battle for every cause ... but does Shelvey push it over the line with pure frustration?
He has personal battles on the field, just like Alan Shearer and Joey Barton used to have. Instigated by themselves.
But Shearer was cute about it. Perhaps Shelvey should look and learn from the master of 'wind-up'.
