Who Is This NUSC 'Voice Of The Fans'?
"The controversial owner was forced to stop attending games after being put under severe pressure after a poor start to the season.
"However, the NUSC, a leading Newcastle supporters group, have offered Ashley an olive branch."
Is this the same NUSC that organised the meeting at the Newcastle Irish Centre and called for Ashley's head? Asked fans to snub the club shop and called for the removal of the club owner?
Power seems to have driven some of the NUSC to drink ... and they can push their "olive branch" where the sun doesn't shine!
Allegedly we have a "Voice Of NUFC Fans" in the group's chairman, Malcolm Shiels: "I think a large number of Newcastle fans would be willing to accept Ashley back if he is willing to try to take the club forward again."
Apparently he expected a meeting between himself and Ashley to take place ... when Joe Kinnear cannot get a meeting with the "Howard Hughes of football"!
The original Supporters Club worked.
It ran transport to away games from 1955 and was highly respected... but Freddy Fletcher kicked the old Haymarket Supporters Shop into touch in 1992.
Several fanzine committees have tried to put together something similar, but with only limited success.
But this NUSC has become a laughing stock.
