The former Bradford man saved his finest moment for the Stadium of Light, scoring a late equaliser two years ago. I would describe it as a never to be forgotten moment, but you can drink a lot before a 5.30pm kick off so a very hazy moment is probably a better description.
"I was in the right place at the right time a couple of years ago and it was the making of me at Newcastle," O’Brien explained to The Journal.
"I never thought my name would be sung on the terraces, but it gives me a great buzz when that happens. It wouldn't have happened without the derby."
"I'm due a goal," he added.
"I don't usually go through an entire season without scoring but that record is looming.
"It's a lucky ground for me and Newcastle defenders always seem to do well at the Stadium of Light. Who knows what might happen?"
A winner tomorrow would probably see O’Brien nominated for sainthood, whatever else he does in his career!
