Newcastle United’s soon-to-be out-of-contract players are set to learn of their futures in the next few days.
Four first-team players in Vurnon Anita , Yoan Gouffran, Sammy Ameobi and Haris Vuckic will all see their current deals expire next month.
Anita has already indicated he would like to stay at Newcastle but insists the decision is not in his hands.
He said: “I have to wait and see, it is up to the club.
“We have to see what the club decides.”
Rafa Benitez is likely to release a clutch of players in the closed season in order to free up some squad space for new additions.
Both Vuckic and Ameobi are believed to be moving to pastures new once their current deals are over.
United must also make decisions on a clutch of younger players with Under-23 and Academy staff set to deliver news of their futures soon.
Geordie striker Tom Heardman will soon be out of contract along with Slovakian centre-back Lubo Satka.
Promising attacking midfielder Sean Longstaff, currently on loan at Kilmarnock, is also due a new deal.
The Magpies are yet to publish their retained list but Benitez was present at the Under-23 game against Fulham earlier in the week to run the rule over some of United’s young players.
