Recent speculation claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were keen to sign the Netherlands international, who was said to have become disillusioned with life involved in a relegation battle.
However, speaking in his homeland, Wijnaldum stressed that he is "still happy" on Tyneside.
"I knew it was difficult because [Newcastle] had a tough season last year but I made the choice with full confidence and I still do not regret it," he RTV Rijnmond.
"I'm still happy [at Newcastle]. I am just trying to do my thing and enjoy it - then you are at your best."
