Colback will miss relegation-threatened Newcastle United’s fixtures against Norwich City and Southampton.
The midfielder picked up the suspension after being shown his 10th yellow card of the season in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against former club Sunderland.
Colback – who has been used as a makeshift left-back in recent weeks – was booked for a first-half challenge on Fabio Borini.
“It was going to come at some point,” said the 26-year-old. “I think I did well to get to this game without one.
“It felt like I won the ball, to be honest, but the referee thought otherwise. It’ll be disappointing to miss the two games, but that’s just the way it is. I’ve got to deal with it.”
