With on loan Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle and Everton youngster Mason Holgate having an immediate impact on the West Bromwich Albion first team following their respective arrivals at The Hawthorns, it’s no great surprise to see reports suggesting that we will be very interested in securing their futures come the summer.
28-year-old Gayle arrived in early August in a convoluted deal seeing Salomon Rondon head the opposite way. 23 starting appearances and six substitute showings have seen him return 16 goals for us already.
22-year-old Holgate arrived at the club at the beginning of the January transfer window and almost seamlessly slotted into our backline, aiding our balance, and he has 12 appearances to his name already (one substitute showing).
The Birmingham Mail have reported this week that West Brom do want to sign both players on permanent deals, but it depends on promotion back into the Premier League.
Not only the pull of top flight action for both, but also from the financial point of view of getting deals over the line.
