Roeder says he is working desperately to strengthen his squad as the transfer window runs down, but it is looking increasingly likely that Roeder's £15million summer investment on Damien Duff and Oba Martins will be his last until the summer (at least).
Roeder's list that he handed to Freddy Shepherd included Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, Charlton's Darren Bent, Ajax forward Ryan Babel, West Brom defender Curtis Davies and youngsters Gareth Bale and Giles Barnes from Southampton and Derby respectively.
And we can rule that lot out! It's not the fact there may not be the money, it's simply the way Shepherd makes a rod for his own back suggesting the club ARE in the transfer hunt ... when he knows full well they aren't.
