DeAndre Yedlin returned to training at Newcastle United after tests determined that the knee injury he suffered in the Magpies' 2-1 loss to Tottenham last Saturday was not as serious as first feared.
Yedlin received lengthy treatment after falling in the last minute of the game and left St. James' Park on crutches.
On Friday, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez ruled Yedlin out of the Newcastle United team for its trip to Cardiff City to allow him more time to recover.
“He has trained but we had a conversation and he will stay here because he needs time to get back to his level," he said. "Next week we will be fine.”
Benitez's options at right back against Cardiff are Javier Manquillo or Jamie Sterry.
