Taylor, 30, came on as a substitute in Saturday's 5-0 defeat by Manchester City, only his fourth outing this term.
Repeat knee injuries, including a setback during rehabilitation, have limited his first-team opportunities.
Ryan Taylor: "I've got to try to earn a new contract which is always in the back of my mind.
"I'm 30 years old now and I just want to enjoy my football again.
"With my history it was like 'not again, I've worked too hard for this'.
"We've looked at the incident and the little knock I get off Sandro was enough to put just too much pressure on.
"The physios and the doctors said it could have happened to anyone, but it happened to me.
"It was a niggle, I've had to rest it but I'm keen and feel as good as ever."
