His position now looks untenable in the wake of Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Southampton, as fans made it known he is not wanted at the club.
Pardew hoped a busy transfer window would win over the supporters who called for his head last season, but nothing has changed.
The same dross dished up and as Pardew puts it ... the fault lies with everyone/everything but him!
The grass was too long; the referee should have given us three penalties; the supporters don't like Obertan; Williamson's boots weren't designed for tackling; etc.
Williamson's non-tackling boots
Owner Mike Ashley has watched on, and apparently won't swing the axe because who else would be a puppet like the guy already in the hot seat?
The club’s 2,500 travelling fans made their views clear at St Mary's they want Pardew out ... and the home supporters will be ready to pounce at SJP this weekend.
Does it have a happy ending?
Pardew was too afraid to leave the dugout for Saturday’s game on the south coast because the Newcastle fans were booing him, and the same will happen when we face Hull.
Will the hostility go away? That won’t be easy.
Pardew won’t walk away from a long-term contract and lose a payout.
So the call is Ashley’s, who has been happy to see Pardew suffer ... because the attention has been taken away from himself.
But those supporters are disillusioned and disheartened and Ashley is the next target.
Banning the local Press has been a disaster!
He pulled the piss out of the Chronicle/Journal/Sunday Sun ... kicked them into touch ... and now he faces the backlash.
Alan Pardew talking last month: “I’ve nothing to moan about now in terms of what’s happened this summer.
“We’ve got a strong squad, perhaps the biggest and best I’ve ever had in terms of options, so we’re in a great position.”
So he can't blame anyone else ... although he tries.
Ashley only will act if – or when – he feels Pardew is no longer the man to keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
And unless Newcastle take three points from Hull, that position become desperate!
