Wolves have made a move to sign Newcastle fringe defender Grant Hanley, according to a report.
The Sun claim the FA Cup giant killers are keen to take advantage of Hanley’s fringe status at St James’ Park since his transfer from Blackburn last summer.
It is said that Wolves are targeting an initial loan deal for the Scotland international that they hope to become permanent in the future.
Hanley, 25, has made 12 appearances for Newcastle this season and was in the re-jigged side that suffered a humiliating FA Cup exit at the hands of League One side Oxford on Saturday.
But the centre-back has started only one league fixture since his £5million switch from Blackburn after finding himself behind the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Chancel Mbemba in the central defensive pecking order.
The Sun report that Wolves manager Paul Lambert could create space in the squad by shifting defender Kortney Hause, 21.
