He is having a break on holiday, recovering from yet another long-term injury and is currently training at his old club Leeds United.
His Real Madrid career has yet to take off, and although he insists he still wants to show the Madrid public what he can do, it is rumoured he would not rule out a return to the Premiership.
United chairm Freddy Shepherd put the ball in Woodgate's court earlier in the season when he said: "he would be welcomed back at St James' Park and if Real Madrid were willing to loan him to us so he could gain match fitness ... we'd gladly take him".
