The former Leeds star has undergone a scan on the injury and is already a doubt for England’s games against South Africa and Slovakia.
"Woody has had a scan on his knee and we are awaiting the results," Sir Bobby told The Journal.
"We can not say how serious it is until we have got those results back, but he will not play at West Bromwich Albion."
Also missing at the Hawthorns will be Alan Shearer, Gary Speed, Craig Bellamy, Clarence Acuna, Laurent Robert, Olivier Bernard and Andy O’Brien.
