Rafael Benitez is already looking at summer reinforcements, suggesting he is going NOWHERE.
According to The Chronicle, Newastle United boss Rafael Benitez wants up to five new signings this summer – if he chooses to stay at St James' Park.
The Magpies went into the January transfer window needing reinforcements, but looked like coming out empty-handed in the final stages.
However, Newcastle did pull off two deals, taking left back Antonio Barreca on loan from Monaco before breaking their transfer record on Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron.
The hope is that landing such a significant signing in Almiron will convince Benitez to stay, given that his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Chronicle note that, if Benitez does commit his future to the Magpies, then he still wants 'four or five' additions come the end of the season.
Whether it's Barreca permanently or somebody else, left back has to be a top priority, with central midfield a potential need if Isaac Hayden moves on.
A winger to replace loanee Kenedy must be signed, and more striking power is a must, even if a permanent move for Salomon Rondon is secured this summer.
Having landed some bargains last summer in Martin Dubravka, Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez, Newcastle fans will be hoping that Benitez chooses to stay and brings some more top signings to St James' Park.
