Hatem Ben Arfa has rejuvenated his career at French side Stade Rennais after a disappointing spell at Paris Saint-Germain and continued his excellent form with a superb goal against Lyon - and Newcastle fans reacted on Twitter.
Ben Arfa, 31, moved to French champions PSG in the summer of 2016 but after just four goals throughout his first season, he was frozen out by current Arsenal manager Unai Emery. Indeed, he failed to make a single appearance in 2017-18.
Last summer, he was released by PSG with the likes of Neymar, Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe and Julian Draxler ahead of him in the pecking order. He was signed by Rennes on a free transfer.
He has impressed since joining the Ligue 1 side, scoring four goals in 13 outings including a sensational effort against one of his former clubs Lyon on Wednesday night in a 2-0 away win.
Ben Arfa remains a fan favourite at St. James' Park after his four-year stint at the club which saw him join in the summer of 2010 before leaving in January 2015.
In that time, he clocked up 86 appearances in all competitions for The Toon, scoring 16 goals and creating 14 more. Some Newcastle fans want him back on Tyneside after watching his goal for Rennes earlier in the week.
