Alan Shearer has said that he’d like Leeds to get promoted to the Championship with former club Newcastle.
The Yorkshire giants are currently sat in sixth place after moving into the play-off spots on Saturday following their late 3-2 win against Norwich.
Now Shearer, who was involved in a question and answer session before Saturday’s Match of the Day has stated that he’d like to see the club promoted.
“Leeds of course, Garry’s got them on a great run there,” started Shearer, as shown on Match of the Day’s Facebook page. “They are one of the biggest club’s down there, their support has supported them through thick and thin, through the good times and of course the bad times. I think if there was one team I’d like to come up with Newcastle it’s Leeds because of the size of the football club.”
Shearer’s former club will take on Leeds after the international break, which will be played in front of a sell out crowd at Elland Road.
The two Championship giants are separated by five places and 11 points currently with Newcastle top of the pile on 37 points and Leeds on 26.
