“I looked at my (Twitter) feed,” said the former Arsenal striker. “I am still getting from Newcastle fans about my backing of Alan Pardew. I will continue to back Alan Pardew to the end. He is my friend, he is a coach, he is under pressure.
"I cannot believe that Newcastle fans are blasting my feed when they have got the problems that they have got right now. It is absolutely laughable.”
Wright and Pardew are good friends and played together at Crystal Palace, where the latter is now the manager.
Pardew was in charge of Newcastle from December 2010 to December 2014, before leaving for Palace.
The 54-year-old was not very popular among the Newcastle fans, especially towards the end of his tenure, with many calling for him to be sacked.
The Eagles are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with 33 points from 29 matches, nine points above the relegation zone.
