The Spaniard arrived at St James' Park in a move hit by controversy because Dennis Wise went over manager Kevin Keegan's head to sign him.
Keegan claimed he had no say in the £5.7million move for the player from Deportivo in the summer of 2008, and this was believed to be one of several factors in his decision to resign just weeks later.
The 24-year-old was loaned out to Racing Santander for all of last season ... but has returned because the Spanish club no longer want him.
Xisco: "I'm happy to be back - I've got three years on my contract here and I'm looking forward to them.
"When I came to Newcastle United it was a big opportunity for me in my career.
"Last season I was on loan in Spain because I needed to go back home for a year because of what was happening here (in Newcastle).
"Now I'm back and happy. I'm very hopeful of staying at Newcastle and helping the team do whatever I can.
"If I have to play in other positions for the team, then I will. If the manager wants me to play on the left or the right, I can.
"All you have to do is do the best for the team."
