US international Oguchi Onyewu is undergoing a medical before signing a loan deal at St James' Park for the rest of the season. French club Marseille have reportedly offered £2.1m to Stadard Liege, but the player wants the chance to play in the Premiership.
So obviously Glenn Roeder has given him certain promises, because he would hardly move to Tyneside to become a squad player.
A loan deal does not make sense to either playeror club, either, when the Belgian club could get cash in hand from Marseille. This deal is only a four-month spell so it seems Newcastle will have an option on him ... obviously more than £2.1m.
