DeAndre Yedlin insists that Newcastle United are focused on winning the Championship title, rather than just achieving promotion.
Newcastle are currently in second position, behind surprise leaders Brighton & Hove Albion by two points.
The automatic promotion spots are widely viewed to be decided already, as Newcastle sit seven points clear of third-placed Leeds United, and with a game in hand.
However, Yedlin is keen for his side to open up that gap to the play-off places further, while also lifting the Championship trophy in May.
The United States international told Chronicle Live: “It means a lot to us and we must keep putting pressure on Brighton to get good results.
“We’re also looking to keep creating a gap between us and the third placed team which is very important.”
After notching two assists in the North East giants’ 4-0 win over Rotherham this weekend, Yedlin added: “I try to bring whatever I can to the table.
“Fortunately for me against Rotherham I found some good spots and picked a couple of guys out who’d made good runs into the box. They were good finishes too.”
