Garde, who took charge of Villa in November of last year following the dismissal of Tim Sherwood, has also stated that he does not have any regrets over rejecting Newcastle’s advances.
“You know, the opportunity to manage in the Premier League is not very easy,” the Frenchman told The Times. “I previously had one opportunity [Newcastle].
“I didn’t take it, for many reasons, but this seemed the right one when I chose it. And I’ve no regrets.”
While Villa are currently at the foot of the table with just 16 points from 27 matches, the Magpies are third from bottom in the standings with 24 points from 26 games.
