The 18-year-old has scored twice in his four games for the Latics, as well as impressing manager Iain Dowie with his hold-up play and distribution, and is keen to carry on gaining first-team experience rather than playing for our reserves.
“I’m getting great experience here and I hope to be at Oldham for longer than a month,” said Zola-Makongo.
“But when I get back I’ll be fighting for a first-team place at Newcastle.”
The youngster’s hopes of extending his stay at the cash-strapped club may though be hit by a return to fitness for New Zealand international Chris Killen.
