Apparently Cort underwent and passed (they must have caught him on a rare good day) a medical at Molineux on Wednesday, with a view to finalising a move that will let him get his career back on track.
The 26-year-old last started a Premiership game at Derby County on April 13 2002 and has made a total of just 28 appearances, scoring eight times, during his three-an-a-half years at St James’ Park.
At £7million plus rumoured wages of £15,000-a-week that, to put it mildly, hardly represents good value, although to be fair to him he did look quite useful in his first season before the succession of injuries set in.
Still, even if the deal represents a huge loss, it has to be better than paying him a small fortune to sit in the physio’s room.
If the deal does go through you can expect a ‘My Hell on Tyneside’ exclusive in one of the tabloids before the end of the week.
