The Egypt international is currently on loan at Celta Vigo and will leave Ajax in the summer, but his agent claims to have discussed a possible move to Newcastle with Sir Bobby and chief scout Charlie Woods but was told that we are not in the market for a striker.
Christophe Henrotay said: "I don’t think Newcastle are interested, I have spoken to Charlie and they are not looking for a striker.
"Bobby Robson will be aware of lots of players, but I spoke to Bobby and Charlie Woods and they are not interested.
"Charlie knows the player but there is no interest at the moment."
If true this would also rule out any of the reported bids for Patrick Kluivert, Darren Bent and Javier Portillo.
