There have been more supposed developments in the Darren Ambrose transfer saga this week, with Ipswich being told by their administrators that they must sell a player by the end of the month.
On Friday The Guardian reported that Newcastle would be allowed to complete the signing of the winger because a clause in the transfer window regulations allows a top flight club to sign a player from a club that is in financial difficulties immediately.
But the Daily Mirror chose to run with the story of a £5million bid both for Ambrose and Darren Bent in the summer, with Ipswich’s play-off chances not looking too good at the moment.
The Sunday Papers chose to merely just to list a number of clubs that are supposedly interested in the player – Aston Villa, Blackburn and Everton are apparently all going to pip is to Ambrose’s signature.
So the only thing that we know for sure is that Sir Bobby is interested.
Elsewhere Sir Bobby is quoted as saying that he has been offered Internazionale diver Sergio Conceicao but has turned the chance down and also that Carl Cort can leave on loan for the rest of the season.
On a more general level left wingers Marc Overmars of Barcelona and Damien Duff of Blackburn are said to be available in the summer, while the excellent Michael Brown of Sheffield United is stalling on signing a new contract until he sees whether or not the Blades are promoted.
