Charlton’s 22-year-old left back Paul Konchesky is the man in question this time after he was put on the transfer list at his own request following the club’s decision to hand veteran Chris Powell a new deal.
The Journal were first in with the story, claiming that Newcastle are confident that they can sign Konchesky for £3million, as he seeks a move to a bigger club in order to improve his chances of going to Euro 2004.
On the other side of the defence it is widely reported that Feyenoord have accepted our bid for Brett Emerton, but that personal terms are still to be agreed. Presumably the Australian won’t be repeating his recent comment that "if the stories about Arsenal being interested are true I’d like nothing more" when he meets Freddy Shepherd.
No news yet about the reported talks between Shepherd and Ronaldinho’s agent, but it would now be a major shock if the Brazilian didn’t move to Manchester United to replace Real Madrid bound David Beckham.
