Remarkably Redknapp has built up a reputation as one of the game’s top transfer wheeler-dealers - despite signing Marco Boogers, Javier Margas, Titi Camara, Rigobert Song, Samassi Abou and Florin Raducioiu - and someone who can rescue failing careers.
So you’d have thought an out-of-favour £7million player who hasn’t started a game for over a year would be the kind of player he’d be looking to take on, but unfortunately Pompey don’t have any real money to spend.
"No there is nothing in it," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
"I don't really know where it has come from but I don't have the money to buy Carl Cort or to buy anybody.”
A report in the Birmingham Evening Mail suggests though that West Brom boss Gary Megson is considering making a renewed attempt to take Cort on loan, because of a spate of injuries and suspensions in the Baggies squad.
