A former Inter centre back Galante is valued in the £3million bracket, but has not been selected since an inept display in a 6-0 defeat by AC Milan in October.
Also linked, but probably with about as much likelihood of happening as most of the others, is Everton’s Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo.
He is still on-loan at Goodison, although a permanent deal has been agreed but not yet signed.
Yobo would be a great acquisition, but unfortunately the chances of it actually happening are limited.
Reported target Wayne Bridge has said that he is happy at Southampton and has no intention of joining either Newcastle or Liverpool.
And one departure rumour that won’t go away is Laurent Robert to join Inter for £8.5 million, but with the Marco Materazzi exchange deal off.
The normal proviso applies to all the stories though – the press has probably just invented them to fill column inches.
